Since we are avoiding the popular destinations we will have more time to explore and get off the beaten path compared to other tours. We will take many walks to hidden waterfalls, secluded lakes, scenic vistas, hidden geysers, mud pots, hot springs, and view lots of wildlife. On this tour we will put your group in the best position to safely view wildlife. For lunch we will stop at a secluded and scenic location for a provided picnic style lunch from a local bakery. On this tour we will navigate the park as best we can without interacting with other tourists because we are going to Hidden Yellowstone!

Then, we will return the way we came, following the shoreline and watching the wildlife as we casually make our way back to Grant Village. Paddling away from the crowds in the west thumb of the lake, we teach you how to safely and properly control your kayak so you are able to relax and take in all of the natural beauty of Yellowstone. We always stay in small groups to make sure you get the most information and best access to this incredible area, and to ensure safety throughout each trip. Ages 12 and under are required to be in a tandem kayak with an adult, and we take kids as young as 5 regularly. We have both single and double kayaks available for everyone to enjoy and absolutely no prior kayaking experience is required.

Our Picnic Paddle is a 6 mile adventure great for couples, families and friends. Choose from a single kayak, tandem or even a triple! After a brief orientation, your guide will lead your group along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, escorting you to West Thumb Geyser Basin. We take multiple breaks at scenic points along the route to stretch our legs and experience the grandeur of the lake. After touring the Geyser Basin, where dozens of geothermal features are visible above and below the water's surface, we will return along the same route, stopping for a picnic lunch and a chance to explore along the shore of the lake, arriving back at Grant Marina around 2PM. Return time may vary depending on group size, weather, fitness, etc.
