What to expect
Ella to Ambewela train ride is considered one of the most picturesque short train journeys in Sri Lanka, offering breathtaking views of the central highlands. We facilitate our clients to book 1st class AC compartments or 2nd class non-AC reserved seats for a comfortable travel experience. The train departs from Ella Railway Station and gradually ascends through misty mountains towards Ambewela, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the destination. During the journey, the train passes through stunning landscapes including rolling tea plantations, cloud-covered hills, deep valleys, and iconic railway loops. As the journey continues, travelers can also witness vegetable farms, pine forests, and wide grazing lands near Ambewela, often referred to as “Little New Zealand” of Sri Lanka due to its cool climate and scenic beauty.
