Furnas / East Island – “Gastronomy, Hot Springs, Boilers & Fumaroles” Discover one of the most emblematic volcanic areas of São Miguel, often considered the heart of Azorean tourism. Explore the volcanological activity of one of the island’s most active volcanic areas, with an eruptive history dating back over 100,000 years. Experience the unique Furnas Valley, known for its remarkable diversity of mineral and thermal waters. Witness how locals prepare the traditional Azorean “cozido” using volcanic heat, and visit one of the only tea plantations in Europe. Optional stop: Parque Terra Nostra botanical garden and thermal pool (entrance not included). This visit depends on available time and overall group participation on the day of the tour.
