Yaoshan Scenic Area and Cable Car

Yaoshan rises east of Guilin and offers a perspective that the smaller hills in the city centre cannot provide. The cable car climbs over a wooded slope to viewpoints where the city seems to dissolve among dozens of isolated karst peaks. On a clear day, the panorama makes Guilin’s geography easy to understand: the limestone formations do not create one continuous mountain range, but rise like towers from a broad plain.
