Chen Clan Ancestral Hall

Chen Clan Ancestral Hall was built in the late nineteenth century as an academy and meeting place for members of the Chen lineage from across Guangdong. Its importance lies not in one room but in the extraordinary density of detail covering roofs, beams, doors, courtyards and ridgelines. Dragons, flowers, opera characters and narrative scenes appear in wood, stone, brick, ceramic and plaster.
