What to expect
This 9 hours day trip will let you explore Lotus Mountain and Seagull Island countryside village at the south outskirt of Guangzhou, which is a famous ancient quarry site with precious historical heritages including Qing Dynasty fortress, Lotus Pagoda, big buddha(Guanyin) statue and temple. Located at the mouth of Pearl River and face to the ocean, used to be armed with artillery cannon for defense, it was the frontier for Opium War in the mid 19th century. Here are what you could do(all available and optional): 1) Climb the mountain by hiking or shuttle car and enjoy the overlook view of the mountain and ocean as well as the bare rocks from ancient quarry; 2) Immerse in the beautiful forest with various subtropical plants, observe grand blossom of delicate lotus flowers(available in summer); 3) Visit the buddhism temple for praying; 4) Bicycle ride on Seagull Island to observe the local village with broad farmland, fish nursery pond and orchard(dragon fruit, grape, fig, banana.etc).
