Wachau for Adventurers

Hi, I'm Karin, founder of daslebenspueren.at. I organise and accompany guided hikes in the vicinity of Vienna. With a maximum of 4 people, the groups are small and private. It allows me to respond individually to the wishes and needs of the participants. The majority of the tours are easy to moderate. Before we start our hike in the surrounding hills, we visit the famous medieval town of Durnstein. The hiking trail is considered one of the most beautiful in the whole Wachau region and offers fantastic views over the valley. The unique landscape has an almost Mediterranean touch with its holm oak forests. As well, we will visit the striking and well-preserved castle ruins of Durnstein before ending the day in one of the local wine taverns (optional).

This hike leads us to the summit of the highest mountain of the Gutenstein Alps, the Reisalpe (1.399 m). From our starting point at the plateau, it is only 1,5-2 hours to reach the summit. On top of the mountain, we enjoy a spectacular 360 degree panoramic view. After a well-deserved break at the lodge, we will make our way back to the starting point. The landscape is very beautiful with regional wild flowers, butterflies, mighty old trees and pastures.
